How do four teachers, 2 of whom are new to teaching, come together in order to maximize the educational opportunities for their students consisting of 60% English Learners at a school site where 98% of the students are receiving free and reduced lunch? I will start by defining what I consider to be a Professional Learning
Community (PLC).
A Professional Learning Community, or PLC, is a group of educators that meet regularly, share expertise, and work collaboratively to
improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students. The following are some of the essential elements of a Professional Learning Community that will be discussed.
